Message from Commander Jackie Tribolet

I can’t believe that we are already past Easter and getting ready for Memorial Day! The Marin United Veterans’ Council has planned a full program to honor our fallen service men and women. All of our local veterans’ service groups are participating and we hope that you will join us for this special day on Monday, May 25th.

The doors to the Civic Center Exhibit Hall open at 9:00 AM.  Doughnuts and coffee will be offered, compliments of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 179. The Marin County Sanitary District Non-Marching Band (Sewer Band) will provide a half hour of rousing patriotic marches.  The Marin County Barbershop Chorus will sing the National Anthem among other traditional numbers. Our keynote speaker is a Marin County native, Master Sergeant John Maholick, soon to retire after 20 years service with the US Army. There will also be an honor guard represented by local veterans, information booths, and opportunities to meet and greet other veterans.

American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary 179 will, once again, offer a barbecue free to veterans at the Log Cabin in San Anselmo starting at 1:00 PM. No reservations are required so come out and enjoy good food, good people, and the one and only Dugout Bar.

Closer to home, for Veterans, our Post provides our monthly second Saturday full breakfast for only $5. Our next breakfast will be on May 9 at 9:00 AM sharp!  I suggest coming closer to 8:30 to get a seat with your friends. This event is popular, so be sure to make your reservations by email to bobsrags@gmail.com. Another option is to leave a message at the post by calling (415) 924-6283.  Our club room is open for coffee, pastries and camaraderie on Mondays and Thursdays from about 8:30 to 10:00 Am. We have some new members and we would love to see you at our gatherings.

Do you like live ragtime and hot jazz?  Our Post Hall offers music by professional musicians. Ragtime runs from 5:30-7:30 and jazz from 7:30 to 9:00. Bring your own drinks, food, and a tip for our bands.  There is no cover charge.

Hope to see you at some of our events!
